Our engineer also had the task of coming up with a way to both protect the ornate curtains from damage and grease damage, as well as keeping them from damaging the stairlift. The outcome was that the rail was designed to be further from the wall than usual then clear Perspex plastic fitted to give the impression there’s nothing present from ground or first floor.

The staircase offered many difficulties than the standard staircases found in your every day houses. The angles of two of the bends are far from standard but once again our pictures show that the Stannah 260 Stairlift can be manufactured to suit all obstacles.

This stairlift is the popular Stannah 260 Curved Stairlift, the lift shown was reconditioned with a new rail made to measure for the staircase. The model of Stairlift is the Stannah 260 Starla, it comes with the options of powered or manual swivel and footrest, the one pictured has both, powered swivel and footrest.

The pictures do highlight just how well the rails can be made to fit to staircases that are a little unorthodox.

Hello and welcome to our blog, this week whilst installing one of our lifts in County Meath I had the pleasure of bumping into a couple of the original organizers of the Gibbstown Drive In Bingo events, held throughout the year at Gibbstown, Pat and Ann Martin.

It was the first time I'd heard of such and event and was intrigued to hear just how popular it had become. The prizes are great and after listening to the whole set up and help from the local people of Gibbstown and Oristown, I thought it would be great to share their hard work and event.

It is a standard 90 degree rail with just one bend, with a standard start and finish. The chair and carriage come with Powered Swivel and Footrest. The model shown is the Sienna with a cream leatherette upholstery.

Outdoor Extrema Wheelchair Ramp Lift Installed in County Cork

This Blog shows the installation of an outdoor wheelchair ramp installed in Cobh, County Cork. These versatile lifts can be installed on both straight and curved stairs, and internally or externally. 

The brackets are fixed robustly to give a strong reliable rail. The rail pictured is fixed into the floor with 12mm rawl bolts, but the can also be fixed to walls or both depending on your situation.

The Product pictured worked to a capacity load weight of 200kg

If you're thinking of purchasing a stairlift, either for yourself or for an elderly family member or friend, then there are many questions as to whether or not there are any benefits or advantages to getting a stairlift. Below are some of the advantages to choosing a reliable stairlift.

1. Some people realise that they are unsafe on the stairs, or that they find it hard to climb or descend the stairs and they will choose to live downstairs. Unfortunately this results in losing 50% of their home and often there is no toilet downstairs so they have to resort to use of a commode as well as losing part of their downstairs as a bedroom. A Stairlift eliminates the need to build an addition bedroom or toilet on the first floor of the property. The building work can often be time consuming, untidy and very expensive. In most cases a stairlift will be installed in 4 hours.

2. A DTI survey identified that one person over the age of 65 is killed every five hours as a result of an accidental fall in the home in the UK. A total of 57,000 older people experience falls on steps and stairs in the home every year. Nearly 40% of these falls result in serious injury including fractures and concussion. A great number of these falls could be avoided; there are many reasons why older people are at a greater risk of falling on the stairs.

Physical factors can contribute to the risk of falls including poor gain pattern, lower limb weakness, cognitive impairment medication and poor balance. Environmental factors can also contribute such as steep stairs, objects left on stairs and poor lighting also contribute.

In most cases, the first solution to stair climbing difficulties is the installation of a second banister rail, this is only a short term solution and does not resolve all circumstances and eliminate all risks. A stairlift is a safer option for safe stair climbing and allows the user an effortless safe method of managing the stairs.

Modern Stairlifts are very discreet, they take up little room on the staircase and blend in nicely with most decors. This gives the home owner the full use of their home as well as allowing other family members full, safe use of the staircase.

3. A stairlift could easily boost the users' confidence. This is because a stairlift will give them the independence to do some of the tasks on their own. As a result, they will not feel helpless.

The fears and worries are often hidden by the elderly, usually from the feeling of not wanting to be a burden, these can take their toll. These worries, added to the thoughts of assisted living or care homes can become very distressing. Staying in the comfort of your own home and surroundings offer peace of mind and serenity.

4.Cost.......Stairlifts are cost effective. They offer a cheaper alternative to moving home or building an extension and often can be fitted in a matter of days. Additionally, the elderly can avoid going to assisted living facilities. This model comes as standard with Powered Swivel, Lever Linkage Footplate, fully adjustable seat and premium upholstery finish. The seat adjustment allows for movement of the seat back, allowing increased clearance on narrow staircases. The arms can be adjusted, as well as the seat to footrest height. This Blog shows the double install of two straight stairlifts installed in Hook, County Waterford. The stairlifts were installed into a seafront apartment complex with amazing views. The property was over three floors so two identical lifts were installed on the two staircases. The lifts were installed with as much detail as possible that they both looked, started and finished as close to identical as possible, the pictures do their best to show this.

The configuration of the stairlift rail was a standard one bend, or 90 degree as they are known. The rail also included a run on rail finish at the top of the stairs, this gives a safer area for getting up off the stairlift and allows the stairlift to park clear of the steps making it safer for other users of the staircase.

Here is one of our latest Stairlifts installed in Castletown Bere. This Stannah 600 stairlift was installed onto a concrete stairway that served both flats and as a fire escape to some business offices.

The pictures above show how little space the Stannah 600 Stairlift takes up when neatly folded away despite being position further out from the wall due to a wooden ledge behind

the chair, you can just see it in the first picture.

Stannah 600 Powered Swivel Options, pictured below are the swivel options available on the 600 model range, this option allows the chair to swivel in both directions at the touch of the control, this aids the user when disembarking the lift. At the top, giving safe access to the landing and at the bottom, increasing the space available, especially if there is a wall directly in front of the stairlift when it reaches its parked position.

The last question especially, crops up more and more for our customers. Most people are unaware that they can, and most applicants will be successful. The mobility aid can also be used for other mobility products such as grab rails, access ramps and level entry showers.

The beauty of the Scheme is that your Local Council doesn't decide who or what stairlift company you go with. This gives you the freedom and peace of mind to use the company you feel the most comfortable with.
