Buying a Stairlift for Family or Friends?

We’re here to help you, so you can help your loved ones

It might be glaringly obvious to you: a family member or friend would benefit enormously from a stairlift. But the idea might not be quite so easy for them to accept – even if you’re prepared to buy the stairlift for them.

It’s important to discuss the benefits and advantages with them. If they’re finding the stairs a struggle, if you are constantly worrying, if the potential risks are just too great to bear, a stairlift is able to improve life in ways you may not even realize.

Thinking of Applying for a Grant?

Grants

Stairlift grants are available from your local authority. People seeking a grant should refer to their local authority website. Look for “Housing”,  “Housing Grants Scheme” or ” Housing Adaption Grants”. You can also check to see if you are eligible for a grant by checking on this useful calculator here.

Forms can be downloaded. Clients can then go through exactly what is required to avail of the scheme.

Access Stairs can help you through the process of applying for a grant as we’ve already worked with every county council in the country.

The Housing Adaptation Grant Scheme

The Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability is designed to help people have works done which are reasonably necessary to make a house more suitable for a person with a disability to live in.

The types of works covered include the fitting of access ramps, downstairs toilet, stair-lifts, level access showers, changes to allow wheelchair access, extensions, and so on.

The Mobility Aids Housing Grant Scheme

The Mobility Aids Housing Grant Scheme covers a basic range of works and is designed to assist people with mobility issues.  The works covered include grab rails, access ramps, level access showers, stair-lifts, and other small accessories.
